my tivo box picture is too yellow and bright

My old V+ box  gave a beautiful picture, with perfect colours and brightness and wonderful clear definition. This new Tivo Box picture is far too "Lucosade" drenched and far too bright.

I have no wish, whatsoever, to alter the settings on my TV as this will ruin thepicture quality of the media viewed via the USB mode. Does anybody know if I  can alter the settings on the Tivo box.

Thanks

You can get rid of the "plonking sounds" Look at audio settings in TiVO's settings menu and turn the sounds off.

Re: my tivo box picture is too yellow and bright

Hi Howard,

Thanks for the guidance on getting rid of the plonking sound.

This box is new to me and I am still finding my way around it.

I am gradually getting there.

I have just purchased a network cable and will plug that in to try Youtube out.

regards,

Re: my tivo box picture is too yellow and bright

TiVo has no colour adjustment on board - if you're using a scart cable try reseating it as you may be down one of the primary colours (though I have no idea which would be missing to cause food additive Sunset Yellow to come to the fore)

for what it's worth... my telly saves colour settings etc. for each input separately.

if you're using HDMI try another cable and if none of the above appeals... call it in, you just might have a duff HDMI output - an engineer will be able to test with an other box, you will lose your recordings should it need swapped out.

Re: my tivo box picture is too yellow and bright

Hi inca48,

Welcome to the community and thanks for posting. I'm sorry to hear the TiVo® box picture is too yellow and bright.

I've managed to locate your account to run some tests. I'm not seeing any signal problems with the TiVo® box which could be causing this. Have you tried a different HDMI port on the TV? Have you also managed to try another HDMI cable?

Please let us know how you get on and we can assist further.

Thanks

Rich

Re: my tivo box picture is too yellow and bright

Hi Rich,

I have changed to another HDMI port and it is not too bad now. It is not so bright and the yellow has toned  down a bit.

The faces do appear a bit tanned and a bit jaundiced if they are white, but dark coloured faces look fine.

I was watching the Pianist film last night and that had a "Creamy Look", but not annoying and gave lovely definition. It had no problems with yellow or too bright..

I will see how it all goes and if I am not happy I will ring it in.

The plonking sounds are a bit weird when you change channels, but I suppose I will get use to that.

Regards,

inca48

Hi inca48,

Just checking back with you to see how you got on with the new cable? Did that make a change on the colour you were getting before?

Please drop us a line and let us know.

Take care.
