multi-room boxes

I have virgin + TiVo in the living room and 2 extra boxes in the bedrooms. These boxes no longer pause or rewind although occasionally when I first got them installed they did sometimes do so - obviously I don't expect them to record - although that would be nice. Why do they have these functions on the remote if it's just not possible from the unit why have these functions worked intermittently in the past but now no longer do?.

If you're talking about the V HD boxes, then they cannot pause or rewind live TV, and never have been able to do so. However they can do so with On Demand content - which is why those buttons exist on the remote.

If the boxes are V+ HD boxes that can record live TV, then these functions should continue to work.

Are they V+ boxes. these are or have been phased out to be replace by Tivo.

I thought VM were incentivising customers to dispense with these V+ boxes?

Only the older SA V+ HD boxes are currently being specifically replaced.

The Samsung V+ HD boxes are still in service for those that have them.
