The best solution is to use the TV Anywhere app from a mobile device but you have to connect your TiVo to your home network to enable this function.

Hi kimbai22

Welcome to the community and thanks for posting.

Sorry to hear that your remote for TiVo® won't work due to the box being in a closed draw and it's unable to get a signal to the infra-red.

You can use the TV Anywhere app on your mobile/tablet to work as a remote control as Ernie_C mentioned. If you would like more information on how to do this, check this link and the video will show you how it works.

If you need any more information or have any further questions, then by all means post away.

Regards

Sam

Re: What do I need get the virgin remote work if box is in a closed draw

you plug the adapter into both the tivo and TV's HDMI ports then plug the HDMI cable into the adapters at both ends, plug the IR receiver into the jackplug in the adapter at the TV end and place it in a convenient position where it can pick up IR signals from the remote.

Plug the receiver into the jackplug at the tivo end and point it at the tivo's left hand corner(ish) and provided you have the positioning correct it should just work

If its just a drawer why did you recommend the above kit which IMO is overkill

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Repeater-Infrared-Control-Extender-Receiver/dp/B00S4IB6PS/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8...

would do the job?

because the IR over HDMI doesn't involve running additional cables
