It seems that its a common theme on these forums but I am also struggling with slow tivo. The process of going into My Shows and playing something that I've recorded takes about a minute.
When I first got the tivo box it probably took 5 seconds max. I suspect that it's the age of the box (I've had it for ~3 years).
Is there a point at which Virgin will provide a new box or does it ultimately become a case of moving to another provider?
From another thread, this seems to be the cure. On the handset press Home, thumbs down, thumbs up, play and play again. The screen goes black for about 30 seconds and when it comes back on it responds as it used to.

Sorry to hear you're having TiVo® trouble.
The process MGMetroJim has mentioned works in most cases to speed up the TiVo®. It works by clearing unnecessary background data from the TiVo®, much like clearing the cache on a web browser.
Let me know if you still get any problems after trying that.
