I've been a Virgin customer since July, and throughout all that time my Tivo box has been really, really slow. It takes over a minute to open iPlayer, and the menu interface is very sluggish. It takes a frustating amount of time to just open the TV guide, and even longer to exit it.
Whilst Sky TV has it's issues, the box itself was quick and responsive. I'm almost at the point of paying off the Virgin contract and going back to Sky.
Is there anything that can be done to improve things?

I'm going to weigh in on this one as well, it is an absolute dog, takes ages to do anything. It's getting to the point I can't be bothered to slog through the inertia and just resort to casting or using the apps on the television. If nothing improves we're going to drop the service in the next couple of months.
