Tivo box out of date

Sky and BT are now light years ahead of Tivo box. When will it be replaced and at what cost

Speed, design, ease of use, functionality.

Re: Tivo box out of date

My BT box doesn't do nearly as much as my TiVo box - and is not faster.

Re: Tivo box out of date

I can't believe it's not faster. Maybe you have a faulty box.

I stayed at a friend's house who had BT TV and the menus were very slick and fast. When choosing to record a TV programme on a non-hd channel, it would alert me there was an HD option available which is handy (and logical).

The whole system was very intuitive and when opening up a player such as iPlayer, 4OD etc it would load up MUCH faster than Tivo.

The Tivo box takes an age to open up an On Demand app and scrolling through menus is definitely slower than the competition in my opinion.

Even free box make VMedia look like old dialup. Tivo is count to 30 before recording start and make a cup of tea before netlix/youtube loads.

Re: Tivo box out of date

But your talking about the bolt-ons - not the device itself!

The BT box is not able to do things like record programmes based on user requirements - like programmes about Oxford etc.

There is a lot going on in background on TiVo - which BT can not do.

How long does it take you to load a Netflix 5.1 audio film on the Sky box or even the BT box?

We have all three services here - and none of them is lightyears ahead of any of the others. They all have their own unique goods - and all can be faulted too.

Re: Tivo box out of date

Hasn't the head of Virgin Media himself said an update is long overdue?
