TiVo picture size

I have a benq projector mounted on my ceiling on a 120" screen but I'm getting black bars on the left and right of my screen but only on some channels. Itv the screen fills perfectly but history channel and discovery science and others have the black bars. Is there anything I can do to correct this.
Any help appreciated

Re: TiVo picture size

Okay. Which means if the channel is broadcasting a 4:3 signal it will insert the blank bars for you and send it as 16:9 1080.  That will prevent your projector from doing its own scaling

Re: TiVo picture size

What do you have on your picture settings mode and allowable resolutions? 16:9, 4:3. And/or 1080i 576p etc

Re: TiVo picture size

I have the settings on 1080i and 16:9 as I have a full hd projector and a 16:9 widescreen screen

Re: TiVo picture size

Ok seems like I'll just have to put up with it then. Thanks for the advice though 👍👍

Re: TiVo picture size

NP. If you select the channel browser is the picture in top right 4:3 or 16:9?

I tend to chop between Virgin box scaling or TV scaling. I cannot decide.
