TiVo not working again

We've recently had a new TiVo box as the last one wasn't working.
In order for it to work we have to turn it of on the mains and back on again.
The new box is exactly the same.
It's quite annoying it takes so long to set up.
my parents have a TiVo box and they box is set up in seconds.
We have to wait a good several minutes for it to work. Doesn't seem right that we have to use the mains for it to work.

Sounds like the tivo is just in standby, instead of switching it off at the mains try just pressing the on button on the tivo remote

When the tv box goes into standby
We press the on off button, home button as suggested and we have the home screen where we can search for things but no picture and no sound. The only way I can get a picture is by turning of on the mains.
It's not a case of pressing the on/off button I've had the TiVo box since it first came out so know how to put it on.

If you have had two boxes and both do the exact same perhaps its a fault with the tv

Yeh I was wondering if it was the TV but it's fine once I've turned it of on the mains and re started it again?
Its only a problem once it's in standby mode.

I would like to help and my apologies for the recent interruptions on the TV services.

 

I have tested the account and I'm not seeing a great deal of anything wrong here other that your EPG data needs to be brought up to date. Can you please update your TiVo by:-

 

  1. Press Home on your TiVo remote
  2. Select Help & Settings.
  3. Choose Settings.
  4. Select Network.
  5. Choose Connect to the Virgin Media Service now.
