TiVo box won't get past starting up page

We have been having problems with our TiVo box for over a week now saying certain HD channels were not available. Now our box has stopped working altogether. It never gets past the starting up screen. Have called 150 but all they say is that an engineer can visit us in a week to see if the box isn't working and then if it isn't (trust me it isn't working) he will then order a replacement box and the come back again to install it. Anybody any suggestions
