TiVO to Panasonic Bluray/DVD Recorder

Good evening.

Connected TiVO to my new Panasonic recorder via scart.

Does the TiVO scart output RGB? The picture quality is REALLY pants.

Re: TiVO to Panasonic Bluray/DVD Recorder

The TiVO outputs both RGB & Composite Video from the Scart socket.

Re: TiVO to Panasonic Bluray/DVD Recorder

Thank you. I may have used a poor quality scart plug then as the picture is really bad. I wasn't expecting HD but didn't expect it to be as bad as this. It's hardly worth backing up the stuff I want to put to disc.

Or I suspect the scart in on the Panasonic recorder is not RGB. It just says PAL/NTSC on the instructions.

Re: TiVO to Panasonic Bluray/DVD Recorder

It does have an RGB output, its part of Virgins specification. However, the output may have to be set up through the menus. I'm not currently a TiVO user,so I cant help you with that one. Also, if you are copying HD material, the downscaling can adversely affect the quality.

All the Panny DVD Recorders are capable of recording RGB, but again you will have to hunt through the menus to ensure this is set correctly, as if both signals are there, the unit may opt for Composite automatically. Make sure you are using the AV2 input.

Re: TiVO to Panasonic Bluray/DVD Recorder

Thanks again. I can't find a scart setting on the TiVO box or the Panny, but I'll keep looking.

Much appreciated mate.

I cannot find any setting for the scart output on the TiVO menu.

Re: TiVO to Panasonic Bluray/DVD Recorder

There is no menu for Scart it automatically send the best signal ie RGB or composite depending on what it's connected to and the lead used

Re: TiVO to Panasonic Bluray/DVD Recorder

Hello. After some online research I have discovered that the problem lies with the Panasonic BluRay Recorder. It is not RGB compatible.
