Setup 7001 Error

I've received a TiVo box as a replacement for my old V+ box, the V+ was working fine but the Virgin package has been upgraded. I've connected toe TiVo box as instructed (co ax, hdmi and power cables), the setup process starts but continually fails giving me a 'Connection error 7001' message at the 'Checking Connections' point The box was turned off when I first called the activation number, that process completed saucessfully I believe. TiVo was turned on, to continually get the 7001 error. If I reinstall the old V+ box, that still works indicating the signal is ok.I called the helpline, and was told I need an engineer visit, surely this can be sorted out on the phone as it sounds like an activation type issue?
