Red button not working

For about a week now, when I try and access the BBC's red button services, I am getting long delays, usually followed by a message saying " sorry, something has gone wrong and we are unable to load the section".

Does anyone have any information on what is causing this problem and how or when it might be fixed?

The BBC's red button service is still not working.

Am I in the wrong place for reporting this fault?

Other people seem to be getting issues looked at by Virgin staff when they report them on this forum.

Do I need to phone in this fault rather than reporting it here?

Yes phone in. Mods on here can't look at every post as they get hundreds.

I'm sorry to hear that you've been having troubles with the red button feature.  I'll be happy to help check this out for you.

 

I have taken a look at your box remotely to check the signal and power levels, this is all fine from here.   I would like to request further information which will help me pin point what the issue is.

 

Can you please reply back with the following details:

 

*  Will this happen every time you attempt to use the Red Button feature?

*  Will this happen at certain times of the day?

*  Can you try and order a programme using the BBC iPlayer to test out please and let me know if this works?

*  Does the Red Button feature work on other channels ok?

 

If you can keep me posted that would be awesome and I will be able to assist further as well.

Hi Collette, thanks for the reply. In answer to your questions:

 

* Will this happen every time you attempt to use the Red Button feature?

- Yes. If I'm lucky, I'll get to read 2 or 3 stories on the BBC's news page before the problem appears, but it always will appear, usually straight away.

 

 

* Will this happen at certain times of the day?

-Any time of day.

 

* Can you try and order a programme using the BBC iPlayer to test out please and let me know if this works?

- Sometimes it works and sometimes not. When I tried it just now there was no sound, and then it froze.

 

* Does the Red Button feature work on other channels ok?

-I dont use them much, but when I tried the channel 5 one just now, it worked. Might have just been lucky though.

 

I've been hoping this will just sort itself out, but its been a few weeks now, and if anything it seems to be getting worse.

This has been great in helping me check this out for you.

 

I have been taking a further look,  although at present there are no signal issues nor are there any high demand issues on the network.  All looks great this end in that respect.

 

I would like to arrange for an engineer to call out and check the equipment for oyu and will be able to check further for you.  I will send you the details in a private message Smiley Happy
