Noisy tivo box

Just got a tivo box and really disappointed!
I had the hdplus before and only swapped because I was told i had to if i wanted a better deal.
The reason I'm disappointed is because it's really noisy, constantly making a crunching noise.
Is this normal, do all tivo's make this constant noise?

Re: Noisy tivo box

I've just had a tivo box installed and it too is whirring and buzzing. I understand it has a hard drive in it but my sky plus hd box never made those noises. Is this normal?

Re: Noisy tivo box

Try putting some padding under the feet.

All of the HD boxes with discs make noise to some extent - but the level us usually down to the individual box rather than the make/type.

We have three boxes on the shelves here - and in order of noise emitted are:
1: Samsung TiVo - requires padding

2: SkyHD - requires padding

3: Cisco TiVo - fine without padding

Re: Noisy tivo box

Hi there Burnerburns,

I'd like to welcome you to the forums, I'm really sorry to hear that your TiVo® is making such a racket,

I've run some testing on your TiVo® this morning and it appears that the TiVo® is currently powered off as it's showing as offline. Could you please power it on, and leave it powered on (Standby is fine) and let me know when this is done so that I can run some further testing.

Should the TiVo® not have been powered off at the time of my posting then this will obviously mean that there is an issue somewhere.

Please let me know. Apologies again

Huw
