New TiVo Setup

We got our new TiVo set last week and have been trying to get it set up. Our TV only shows no signal, we have swapped HDMI cables, turned the box office and on etc but still no luck. The box will occasionally flash all its lights but no signs of life other than that.... Can anyone help? I have tried calling Virgin several times and been kept on hold for over half an hour and still can't get through to the help centre
