Network cable unplugged

I have just switched my telly on and there was a programme on but when I decided to change the channel I got the no signal message . I did the VM network connection process and got the (N27) the ethernet cable is unplugged , I double checked and my cable is connected so I will attempt a reboot of my service and hopefully this will sort it out . And my telly service is working again after a reboot but surely this should not be allowed to be the fix for this as the Tivo box should work 100% all of the time . C'mon Virgin Media sort this problem out or you will be known as Virgin Mediocre .
