Multi room question

Hi thinking of getting two additional boxes one each for my sons' bedrooms. At present have one tivo box. I understand that the additional boxes will both require a coax cable run to them but do I also need to have VIrgin broadband as well, for them to work together ? If i don't are there any restrictions on the content available on the additional boxes and what benefits does having them linked up bring? Thanks, Scott.

Re: Multi room question

You only need TiVO's linked to Broadband in order to:

1) Stream recordings between boxes.

2) Use a mobile device as a remote control.

3) Be able to set recordings remotely.

The new V6 boxes are different, as they don't have an internal Broadband modem for the app content etc. They are however WiFi connectable, which the TiVO is not.

The older TiVo's use the built in connection to enabled the browser / app TiVo management, so the home network connection is just for box to box streaming and the app remote control option.
