Has anyone successfully cancelled their contract due to TIVO malfunction?

I was recently persuaded to change my V+ box for the 500 TIVO and unwittingly signed up for a new contract. I forfeited the chance to accept a half price BT offer saving me £300 because I didn't realise the nature of the problems associated with the TIVO box.. I get far better response from Freeview !!
So, has anyone else had the same issues lately and successfully managed to cancel their contract ? if so please let me know.
