Hard disk constantly ticking

Hi,

My TiVo box hard disk is constantly clicking/ticking as if it's downloading even when I'm not recording anything. It's very audible even when the TVs is on.

Could it be that the drive is on its way out?

Re: Hard disk constantly ticking

If it has always ticked, then probably not about to fail, but if the ticking just started or got louder that is bad.

Ps it is always recording when on and tuned to a channel so that you can rewind the live feed. It only stops in standby.

Some drives are noisier then others so some tivo are noisier than others

Re: Hard disk constantly ticking

Will Virgin replace the box if I call them about the problem?
