When the engineer installed Virgin Media for us we were left with a second Tivo box for use in another room. We do not have another tv elsewhere in the house so is it possible to connect the second box to the same tv as the first one to allow us to record an additional 3 programs at the same time?
With both TiVos connected on your LAN together each TiVo box is aware of the other. Record on one and watch the other. One remote will operate both machines at the same time causing mayhem if the TiVo boxes are in the same room. The mobile/cell phone application is the route of choice for this problem.
Note at the back side of the machines there are some sockets. The RJ45 connector to connect to the computer network (LAN). There are two USB sockets for some things and I found a USB keyboard works in here. That makes watching the UTube on your telly easier because you can type in the titles easier. Note the remote functions are available too, but no instructions you will have to "poke and test" to see what the keyboard "hotkeys" do.
You will have to go into the TiVo settings menu to set the TiVo up for your LAN (Local Area Network inside and around your box and the wires)
Note with the Android phone here it acts as a remote. When away from your property the Android application allows you to set up a recording as if you were home. For instance a friend mentions to you something good is on the telly tonight, then get out your phone, log in and tell your TiVo box to record the wanted programme. When you want at home then you can watch the programme you recorded when you were away shopping or down the pub or waiting for the kids to come out of the school.
