We are getting terrible download speeds on our 30MB connection in a house in Bristol BS8. Most evenings the download speed is down well below 1MB which prevents any kind of practical browsing of the net, watching stuff on iPlayer etc.
We had Virgin 30MB broadband in a previous house in the BS8 area and had regular speeds of 15-20MB - please can someone advise what the issue may be with this particular setup??
I am fairly confident that the issue is not with the router itself or the wifi connection throughout the house since we are capable of receiving acceptable speeds (~20MB) at other times of day.

Emily,
There are allot of us around Bristol with problems like this (probably 1000's). I have been suffering for over 3 months and I live in BS9. I have several friends with problems (all those with VM). There are allot of people here who have the same problem. I have been told to wait until Nov 2. They have broken their own contract and I have been told that I am free to leave VM. I've also been given a refund for this service. I would suggest complaining via the contact us form on the site. They guy I spoke to said they weren’t sure if these works would fix the problem. I don’t want to leave, but 3 months is just too long!!!
