Virgin's Twitter no help, call india and find out...
on 05-04-2012 18:12
I tried the following a few weeks ago. just to see how full of **bleep** VM really is...
I called an engineer, told him about the problems. He said there was no issue in my area and agreed to send me a new router.
after I got the new router, I installed it, of course nothing changed. I called again, this time the rep told me that there indeed was an issue in my area, and that the fix date is april 18th. (this is about 2 days after the first call).
Then my girlfriend called in again, 5 minutes later. All of a sudden there wasn't an issue in my area anymore ![]()
just to show that they will say anything they want to make you think they actually give a **bleep** ![]()
on 05-04-2012 18:21
Well he called me back, checked on speedtest.net that I was getting 50mbps and said he couldn't really do anymore.
He said to give it 5-7 days because I raised an issue on the 18th and that they're still looking at it. :s
At least he agreed with me that youtube streaming and surfing are the basics of internet useage and should be working right and he wants to get it sorted for me. I'm not hopeful tbh.

Issue Type: Slow youtube/video buffering, very poor web browsing. A lot of spikes and drops in download speeds.
Issue Start Date: not sure exactly but around the 5/03/2012
Location: London - W5
Broadband Package: 50MB
Link To Specific Issues: http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Up-to-50Mb-bro
Not much more to add than everyone else.
Connection is running at 50mb download but with a lot dropouts.
Seems to affect download more than upload speeds.
Customer support & help desk pretty much hopeless.
on 06-04-2012 09:15
Hi davidrobinsonfs,
The UBR which handles your connection is currently suffering from very high utilisation, particularly at peak times. This has been raised to our network teams under reference F001953691. Work to resolve this issue is currently scheduled to take place on 23-MAY-2012 (although this may be subject to change).
We're very sorry for the inconvenience this has caused.
06-04-2012 13:41 - edited 06-04-2012 13:59
Thank you for replying but that is almost two months away and I'm currently paying for service that does not work correctly and I've put up with it for a fortnight already and it's got worse than when I even first posted here about it. Been with you two years but I will probably put into motion a move back to my old landline service and another provider next week so I can get a fully working connection and stable speeds.
on 06-04-2012 14:57
So while you take 2 months months to sort out the problem, I expect you will be giving us all a full refund for this month for which you have been messing us all about and for the next two months too. As much as I appreciate your apology, it has taken far too long for you to admit there is a problem and an even more rediculous amount to fix it. Money back or I will cancel all my services.
