Since I got my SuperHub back in January I have had quite a fe WiFi problems despite my limited use of WiFi.
Issues encountered...
Unable to connect. Power cycle hub and it works again.
On one occasion unable to connect to main SSID but guest SSID still working. Power cycle hub and problem is fixed.
Frequently find my phone has locked onto my outdoor antenna for anothe AP I run despite it normally being a weak signal indoors - it seems as if the hub somehow "dozes off".
I had put these down to dodgy firmware however a VM staffer on cableforum says that his own hub works perfectly at all times and has suggested I contact VM for a replacement hub as mine must be faulty.

Possibily a DHCP lease problem, there seems to be a few problems posted on here with the dud not renewing leases properly. just a thought.

Looks like this one got missed.
Are these problems due to to buggy Superhub firmware or buggy Superhub hardware?

hence possibly why many users report that extending the lease time in the s/hub to the maximum has helped.

Mine is already extended to a day but that is irrelevant. A piece of hardware should work with default settings - particularly one supplied to non specialist customers.

Hi kwikbreaks,
Can you advise what power rating (volt/amp) your Superhub' power supply has please? Did the engineer use your old modem power supply or did you get a new one with the hub?

Most engineers do in fact use the power supply of whatever modem they are replacing. It has been mentioned on this forum before as some power supplys for the modems that existing customers have are rated differently to the requirements of your wonderful superdud.
As at least one person has posted on this forum that they were concerned about the problem (install techs using the previous CPE power supply) and making you aware of the voltage/amperage mismatch (I remember the post-don't ask me to recall where it is though). It would appear that VM are failing in their duty of care to their customers which is a legal requirement. Not just under Civil law but Criminal law as well.
From personal experience I can state that the install tech does not check the volts/amps rating of the adaptor when he changes CPE,

I for one posted and asked the question about techs using the old PSU and got no reply from support I ended up phoning up and asking for a new one to be sent out as it was running very hot, they had to send out a new Supper Hub as ''they cant just send out the PSU'' what a waste.

It is the correct 12v Superhub unit - I checked when I first saw reports of the installers just using the old 10v modem psu. I'm pretty sure they swapped for each new Superhub they tried - the first two didn't work and they had to get their manager to bring a third one. It was a long upgrade....
I should perhaps also mention that I have tried both 300 and 145Mbps modes following reports that WiFi problems are sometimes cured by running it just single channel. In my case it made no difference.

Hi kwikbreaks,
To eliminate the possibility that the specific superhub is to blame for the problems you've experienced, I've booked a replacement superhub to be sent to you. This should be with you in the next few days. Please let us know how you get on once you're up and running with the new hardware.
