Hello,
It seems that Newsgroups are being capped to less than 2.5Mbps even after 1am?
I am not currently being capped and i am wondering if this is a fault or intended. Normally at these times speeds are maxed out.
Is your "traffic shaping" acting up again as it did before? Your help is appreciated.
Jay.

Coming up to the fourth day, and still no customer support reply.
Does Virgin not provide support for the newsgroups it provides for its customers? if you cant be bothered to support it then why supply the newsgroups to your customers.
Thanks for nothing.

Excuse me, but 3 days wait is not acceptable for customer support. No company expects customers to have to wait for such a period of time to recieve support except for this pile of shambles.
The issue is now resolved thankfully, but no thanks to Virgin customer support or to any of you "whizkids" who pretend they know more than they actually do on these forums.
With the volumn of complaints now on these forums it is no wonder that virgin take so long to reply to angry or frustrated customers, and having patronising "whizkids" playing catch up and trying to do the job that the company itself should be providing is patronising in the very least.
Good day.

Just to add, this seems to be happening to me at the current time. It was OK on my 20MB connection from 12am to 1am (full speed) but has now been throttled back to ~500KB/s.
As I am only home at certain evenings, I cannot say if it has been a daily occurrence, but it was definitely apparent on Monday night and released at about 3am. May well be the case tonight.
I beleive that traffic shaping trials were being carried out (see Announcements) but there has been no updates on this other than of 17th Feb. It seems as if the trial is either:
a) ongoing
-- in which case it should be updated on the announcements page OR
b) left switched on
-- in which case it should be switched off as there has been an 'oversight' by those implementing the trial.
I have my views over traffic shaping, but as VM have my bal....... sorry, as there is no viable alternative, I have decided to work around these limits, making use of the midnight to 9am time period in which to carry out data traffic movements. I don't like having another 2 hours of that time taken away leading me to an even more nocturnal life.
For clarification, it is not a global throttling problem nor a general connection issue as SSL transfers and FTP are working at the stated maximum of 2.34MB/s.
Thank You for the attention

Yes, i have noted the same issue on my 50MB connection as well.
I schedule my usenet downloads for after midnight but lately the traffic has definitely been shaped past midnight.
It's 2 a.m right now & am getting 2.30MB/s. As a previous poster said, the introduction of traffic shaping has been a PITA but it was manageable as long as you scheduled your downloads. But now it's just getting ridiculous.

Dont think its just newsgroups, my connection has been progressively worse for ages. Used to be flat out 24/7 now newsgroups and speedtest both come in at around 10meg.
Its now 2.46 am and speeds are pathetic.

Exactly as happened on Monday evening.... 3am and PING! back to normal speed.
Seems that between 1am and 3am, NNTP traffic is being 'managed'.
