Hi,
You may remember I posted lots of T3 and T4 errors and was advised to get an engineer out.
Well Modem has been changed, isolator has been changed and still I'm struggling to get above 30MB we got a couple of +40MB speeds whilst he was here but now they've dropped below 30 again already!! Heres my new stats....

Hi Adamipswich,
Your power levels will continually fluctuate a little so this is normal. I have ran some checked on your connection and everything looks ok. In order to investigate this further can I ask you to download 2 files simultaneously from our gamefiles site (http://gamefiles.virginmedia.com) for a couple of minutes and let us know the combined speeds. Once you have completed this test can you perform a traceroute to the BBC website (type tracert bbc.co.uk from your Command Prompt and press Enter) and post the results here. If you're using a router can you remove this while performing these tests. Also can you advise whether the T3 timeouts seen in the modem logs are happening continually? If so how frequently?

Thanks for your reply,
Tried downloading 2 files
One downloaded at 3.2MB and the other at 2.1MB
T3 and T4 drop outs happen all the time and haven't changed since the engineers visit at midday today 5/4/2010. In my original post T3 drop out was 2, its now 3!
BBC ping result wouldnt work without the router so had to leave it connected/ Without the router all I got was unreachable something!!

Hi Adamipswich,
The speed test you carried out from our gamefiles site shows a speed of over 42Mb which would suggest your speeds are fine. If the speed drops again please let us know.

Hi Lee and thanks for your reply,
When I have used Speedtest.net and test at London I always use to get 49MB+ but now it struggles above 30MB why is this?
Take it my bbc.co.uk check was ok?
Plus why do I get T3 and T4 timeouts?
I forgot to mention earlier the Technician is getting the network guys to have a look tomorrow anyhow as he checked Speedtest.net when he was here and said it shouldnt struggle to get above 30MB.
Many thanks

Well the 50MB engineer just rang me to say he's struggling to get network guy round, apparently all they'll do is bring their own laptop round to check the speed anyway?!
But he told me apparently there is a big problem for 50MB in Ipswich but not Colchester although the status page on virginmedia.com says nothing about this!
I don't know what to do next, surely my T3 timouts etc arent right? and what about the higher amount of uncorrectable codewords compared to the correctable codewords, is this right?
I know this is do to with packet loss but according to my sam knows info I havent suffered any packet loss.
I am very confused and am asking anyone for their help and advice?

Hi Adamipswich,
Speedtest sites are not always very reliable which is why it's better to physically download some files to test your speed. As you were getting good speeds from our gamefiles site this would indicate your connect speed is fine. T3 errors will not necessarily cause connection issues. Apart from getting slow speeds on speedtests sites are you having any other issues?

Lee,
I thought nothing else was wrong but its gone from bad to worse!
Since the engineer visit my speeds are now fluctulating between 8-40 meg.
I rang CS once more and he got me to do the download test and confirmed I only had 32 Meg which he said was unacceptable. Also he also couldnt get any readings from my modem.
I have tried rebooting the modem several times to no avail.
My ping is also all over the place ranging from 23 to 2358!!!
I tried playing Call of duty modern warfare 2 on PS3 (Which I've never sufferred lag!) And I was the only player who was suffering lag and it became unbearable to the point I had to turn it off! I was the only player with a red dot compared to people with 4 green bars! I am sure my 50MB XXL connection should be one the best!!!
Also my set up is phone xl, Tv xl with 1 v+ and 1 normal V box. The normal V box last night crashed and had to be rebooted and after it had done certain channels would not work so it seems as the whole thing has gone down the pan!
When I was on the phone to CS he has arranged for a (Senior) engineer to visit this Friday 10/4/10 between 8-12 and I just hope this engineer can do be a bit more than the one who attended Bank Hol monday which seems to have made things worse!!
Cheers
