Hey.
We Switched to XXL package in October last year and it started of rocky, slower than the 20MB we had previously but after a few calls and an engineer the speed picked up for a little while.
Now every evening (6pm) onwards since the start of jan the net goes really slow and disconnects about every 30 mins. Its so annoying and it makes me lose my rag so easily! Lots of people seem to be having issues in the SA2 area, I wonder, has anyone spoke to virgin media and gotten an estimated fix date? I understand that the area is oversubscribed, but should they really be selling a package in an area they can't support? It's robbery.
Any help would be sweet.

If you search this forum (Community) on the word "Swansea" you can assess whether your problems are covered by the other threads. Swansea has quite a story.
If you think there's something wrong with your individual circuit, just post your stats as per the other threads and we can give an opinion.
Cheers

SA1 and SA2 are the same CMTS most likely as SA2 is just up the road a short while.
They're currently working on fixing it and (apparently) should be done by the 8th (of this month). So hold on there and hope for the best.
Last couple of nights the cut-offs have been less frequent, especially than Sunday.

Engineer just came out, told me the same thing, "your connection up to the hub is fine, it's a server issue at the main block. They are aware of the problem, and they are working to fix it. There have been some cutoffs where they switch things over, including to the 20meg service. I also replaced a rusty connector." ![]()
Finger crossed swansea!
I NEED TO PLAY SOME GAMES ;_;

Do have a look outside to make sure that the connector doesn't become rusty again. Like the wall box isn't exposed to the elements. Stuff something into the gaps if necessary!

Are you referring to the box on the side of the house? or the green one out in the street? I would wrap them both in bin liners and duct tape if it meant I could actually get close to a 50Mb connection ![]()

I'm assuming that the rusty connector was on your external wall box. If it looks like water or damp could get in, then that needs to be prevented. Air circulation should not be prevented otherwise condensation will take over.

wow VM, just wow.

when was that? i've not had speed issues like that, maybe slowed down to around 20mbps down and 0.7mbps up rarely
try using London as speed test not Dublin, sometimes that server is useless
