upgrade question

Im currently  on virgins  XL 20mb package, with virgins promise of an upgrade to 60mb, which was due to of happened this month, but suprise suprise this has now been put back to Dec 2012 - March 2013.

Having had to contact virgin this week, i was told that i could upgrade to virgins 100mb package for an extra £1 a month more on my bill.

I did say yes, so they have sent me a superhub, though its still in the box, as im unsure whether i should use it, as it seems very unreliable from what i have read on this forum, more so than my present modem which needs rebooting constantly

It does seem odd that i can immediately go to 100mb but have to wait until perhaps March 2013 to get 60mb.

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

The modem you have isn't capable of doing either 60Mbit or 100Mbit, so if you've got a good deal for 100Mbit, there is no reason not to do it.

 

Although some people have had problems with the SuperHub, remember that this is what the forum is here for. Those that don't have any problems aren't usually going to join a forum just to say 'everything is working fine thanks'

 

I've been running a SuperHub since December 2010, and personally haven't had any issues with it.

 

In regards to the upgrade, it all comes down to numbers and capacity. The mass upgrades require significantly more capacity to support upgrading the broadband speed of tens of thousands customers in each area. A lot less capacity is required to complete on request installs or upgrades.

And if they do that, check first that the router they've currently got is going to be good enough for 100Mbit :smileywink:

So the only people with errors are the ones who come here ;P....

Guess the Sky and BT vans I see driving around here are just moving customers who got fed up with high speeds and good service...

 

Anyhow...

I am with Ben (ZOMG WUTWUT) on this one...  If you got a good deal then install the new SH and enjoy 100 (soon to be 120) meg broadband.  By the time your contract is up (12 or 18 months) you can drop it down to a slower service, and hopefully by that time the upload speed will be increased.
