Re: Wifi connection is disconnected every minute

Hi,

this will be due to black spots or interference, try changing your wireless channel in your routers configuration page.

Recommended WIFI channel;

1

6 or 11

hope this helps.

Danny

URGENT SECURITY ISSUE: Re: Wifi connection is disconnected every minute

Why I do not see any reply from VM staff!

this is a security issue! And it is serious - you are allowing DOS attacks to reach my router.

Please, have a look and response what shall I do ?

Could you hide my IP-address at all and prevent this from happening? I did necessary changes to the router and got rid of those messages. But I still see something like this:

[Service blocked: ICMP_echo_req] from source 212.18.191.4, Tuesday, May 04,2010 18:05:15
[Service blocked: ICMP_echo_req] from source 78.62.210.142, Tuesday, May 04,2010 14:42:51
[Service blocked: ICMP_echo_req] from source 61.175.245.206, Tuesday, May 04,2010 13:28:26
[Service blocked: ICMP_echo_req] from source 118.37.243.170, Tuesday, May 04,2010 12:44:40
[Service blocked: ICMP_echo_req] from source 201.250.61.43, Tuesday, May 04,2010 12:41:09
[Service blocked: ICMP_echo_req] from source 202.69.187.106, Tuesday, May 04,2010 12:26:42
[Service blocked: ICMP_echo_req] from source 78.62.210.142, Tuesday, May 04,2010 10:40:30

HOW TO DEAL WITH THIS?

thanks

Re: URGENT SECURITY ISSUE: Re: Wifi connection is disconnected every minute

On my Draytek router I have an option in my Firewall Menus that offers the following:

DoS defense Setup
Enable DoS Defense
Enable SYN flood defenseThreshold packets / sec
  Timeout sec
Enable UDP flood defenseThreshold packets / sec
  Timeout sec
Enable ICMP flood defenseThreshold packets / sec
  Timeout sec
Enable Port Scan detectionThreshold packets / sec
Block IP optionsBlock TCP flag scan
 Block LandBlock Tear Drop
 Block SmurfBlock Ping of Death
 Block trace routeBlock ICMP fragment
 Block SYN fragmentBlock Unknown Protocol
 Block Fraggle Attack

Does your router have anything as comprehensive?

I'm not sure what VM can do other than to protect their routers from DoS attacks in a similar manner.  The attack that is hitting your router is not denying service at the VM UBR.

Re: URGENT SECURITY ISSUE: Re: Wifi connection is disconnected every minute

Hi Dimpers,

We're sorry for the delay in responding to your post.

Unfortunately if you are the target of a DOS attack there is little that we're able to do to prevent this.

We would recommend that you file a report with our Internet Security team at the following link:
