Re: Unable to access some websites

I'm also experiencing this. So far i've noticed I cant get on pingtest.net (although speedtest works) or newgrounds.

Guessing i'm just gonna have to wait it out ?

The service since the end of last year has been pretty poor for me. New day, new broadband problem.

Re: Unable to access some websites

Hey Steve,

Any ETA on when this will be fixed???

Its ok posting a topic about it on the main announcements page but it would be much better if you gave us a clearer time in which this will be fixed so that we aren't waiting around like chickens.

Thanks,

Re: Unable to access some websites

Hello Steve,

PLEASE POST AN ETA FOR A FIX TO THIS PROBLEM. This is causing a lot of people a lot of trouble. I couldn't get into my email today. I am literally losing money because of this.

Also, using the VM proxy has allowed me to access the web pages I need, but I suspect that this problem is preventing me from activating my iPhone. Does anyone know how I might be able to activate my iPhone with this problem going on?

Re: Unable to access some websites

Hi All

I do not have a current ETA for this to be fixed. The fault is logged as a Major Service Outage under Fault Ref F002014417 and until it has been properly assessed and a plan to resolve is in place no ETA will be available.

When checking the ticket just now I can see at least 14 people within our networks and routing teams have the ticket open, which should give you an idea of the priority being placed on getting to the root of this and getting it fixed. As an MSO hourly status reports will also be mailed out to some very senior heads at Virgin Media.

kissinger I am sorry to hear that you are losing money due to your inability to access mail. Perhaps a business package with SLA's on outages would be better suited to your needs.
Kind Regards,

Re: Unable to access some websites

virgin business broadband sla:

"Business-strength SLA – we’ll ensure we get back to you within two hours and aim to solve any problems within 24 hours*. "

and if they don't.. a tenner ? im sure like most SLA's it aint worth the additional expense.

Virgin Media should aim to fix all it's network problems in less than 24 hours, SLA or not :smileyhappy:

Re: Unable to access some websites

My internet clicked off at around 2am and after a reset of the router - the internet came back but there were a couple of pages that would not load1  Like you others, it would load through other ISPs/phone so the problem wasnt the website!

Its strange how it is different websites for everyone! And I actually had a service engineer in today who changed my superhub because I was having an upgrade to my internet - - > after the hub changed, the websites that didnt work before, worked! But some other websites didnt work!

I spent an hour on the phone to 150 technical support but they were no help, just messing round with settings and unable to understand what the problem was.  Not confirming there was a problem at there end despite my insistence!

The fix posted by VM on the forums with the webcache seems to work for me for the moment and some of the websites are now loading, but obviously not a permanent fix!

Anyway - after complaining loads - VM are sending out an engineer to my house to look at the problem so I wonder if he will even know about the post from 17:10 or whether he will just start messing with my settings again!

Glad to find this post and that it isnt just me becuase thats what VM made me think so I wasted my own time messing around with settings that will make no difference!

Fix fix fix.

Re: Unable to access some websites

With all my frustration with these problems, I forgot to mention how slow the internet's been today.

Always judge a company not when things go well, but when they go wrong. Any business can be great when everything's working, but few can be great when things go wrong. By these standards, Virgin Media are atrocious and have lost a long-standing customer.
