Hello,
This is my 1st post to the forums but hoped it would be under better circumstances.
Like many others, I experience a lot of lag and jittering every single night. I am a serious gamer (we all like to unwind after a hard day at work and the likes). Its been recurring frequently since day1 of switching to Virgin Media..
Due to this issue I cannot play the only games that help me unwind right now (Battlefield 3 and Rift). I really hope this issue can be fixed before Guild Wars 2 is released this summer.
Have been running PingTest.net tests each time before and during these sessions of issues and they confirmed the extend of lag spikes and jittering was very severe(as low as 'F' grade).
My computer is fine as there were no problems before switching from my ADSL 8 meg TalkTalk connection.
Please let me know if you wish for me to run further tests at my end. I added my router connection info below.
Any help in resolving this matter would be most appreciated.
Thanks

Not sure how much longer I can tolerate this. Please help!
BS7 area.
I've set up the Thinkbroadband Monitor to help show how bad gets in the evenings.
Will post the results once at least 24hrs worth of data has been collected.
Anything else I should be checking?
Thanks

You got to leave it longer - about 4/5 days without posting as it bumps your thread to the back!!! I've the same problem, not played my Xbox since Feb - (Got Max Payne 3 untouched - waste of money I'm looking to claim back). Mine is due to be fixed by tomorrow (4th July)- this is the 3rd or 4th date I've been given. But I can get bet my home and car that it won’t be fixed when I get home tomorrow. These issues have been caused by VM over selling the network in your local area and not investing in the infrastructure to carry the load then struggling to fix it once it breaks under its own strain. Demand a full refund and leave would be my advice. Gaming and VM are not a combination I’d recommend to anyone.

My connection is getting worse and worse. Is it high utilisation in my area or are there other issues??

Hi nikoto,
My apologies for the connectivity issues you are having currently. I have checked for any utilisation issues and can see that the network traffic is becoming increasingly congested at peak times.
This has to reach a certain level before we are able to escalate it over to our Networks team.
Please bump this post in a week or two and we shall re-check this for you.
All other tests I performed showed no other faults.

Hi Jen,
Many thanks for your reply.
It's still very frustrating as I am unable to play online games such as battlefield3 due to the high pings/jittering at peak times (my main purpose for having an internet connection).
I understand the high utilisation needs to be above a certain trigger point before it can be escalated, but how much worse does it need to get??
Broadband is pretty awful at the moment (I only use it around peak times when I get back from work) and is close to the point where I may have to cancel all VM services (although I don't really want to go through the hassle of switching provider again, but have had issues with VM broadband that are getting worse by the day).
I'm guessing the new R36 upgrade (which I cant get for another few weeks due to the phased roll out) won't fix this as its a utilisation issue?
Kind regards,
Nikoto

Hi Nikoto,
The Utilisation is only just below the trigger point and I can't see it staying below for much longer. It has raised since Jen_A checked it.
The R36 firmware has had excellent feedback with regards to reduced Latency and Jitter. I am unable to publish the results yet but it has made much more of an impact than we beleived it would.
Many connections have gone from unuseable to amazing and we have had very detailed feedback to support this.

Hi Ben,
Many thanks for your reply.
Indeed the utilisation has increased even more since your post. My internet online gaming and streaming (Netflix, etx) is degrading further. This is backed up via my TBB graph day-on-day. The amount of packet loss is continuing to increase as well as the usual lag / jittering.
TBB graph snapshot @ 21.05 19 July 2012:

Is it possible to get an update to confirm whether the high utilisation trigger point has been reached in order for this issue to get escalated to the Network teams? If so, is there a fault number / reference for this?
Kind regards
Nikoto
