Hello.

Is the problem still due to be fixed on this date?

There was a slight improvement over Christmas but now its back to its terrible self.

Hi louispompey,

I can confirm that the fix has now been implemented and utilisation has now decreased. Are you still seeing problems with the connection?

Kind Regards,

Patrick

Hi.
It has improved over the last couple of weeks but i am still consistantly getting high ping and packet loss at peak times. I have a monitor running which shows its fine during the day then the packet loss and high ping start suddenly around 8.30pm and stop just as suddenly about 1.30 - 2 hours later.
I'm beginning to think this will never be resolved. Is there anything else that can be done? Thanks

Re: Packet Loss, High Ping, High Jitter!

Mate, I wouldn't bother. As mentioned, they are just fobbing everyone off with the same **bleep**py excuses and missed deadlines. When they say that they have fixed the issue, they mean that they have put in a temporary solution that won't fix the issues.

I have been paying for 50mb for 3 or so months and have not once had good service from virgin media. They have said that our issue will be fixed in a few days but I hold little hope. Will be changing to someone else as soon as this date has passed and their network is not fixed.

Oh and Virgin, by fix, I mean that I want to get full network speeds all the time. Not just when everyone is not using it. Its your own **bleep**ing fault for overstretching your network and I have no idea how you are allowed to get away with it.

Re: Packet Loss, High Ping, High Jitter!

Hi louispompey

I have ran further checks and I cannot identify any network issues. All pings come back at under 50 with zero packet loss and utilisation is well within limits. How are you connected when this happens, is it wired or wireless, if its wireless you may be seeing some wireless interference from another router that may not be online during the day, changing the channel wouild usually solve this, otherwise there are no more checks we can run as everything shows as ok.

Re: Packet Loss, High Ping, High Jitter!

Well i received the service im paying for for three months and now i am back to all the same old problems.

I've had a whole week now of high ping, high jitter and ridiculous packet loss making my internet connection totally useless to me.

No doubt things are only going to get worse, as before.

Could somebody please tell me how long i have to wait again before i can use my connection again?

I hope this thread is proof to anyone who needs just how utterly poor and unreliable the Virgin service is.

Re: Packet Loss, High Ping, High Jitter!

Hi louispompey,

Sorry your again experiencing problems. On checking your connection I can see that utilisation has been on the increase and will be impacting your connection at peak times.

This isn't yet of a level we can raise for priority work to be carried out, but we'll monitor the issue, and should it develop, we'll get it raised as soon as we can.

Apologies for the inconvenience this may be causing.

Kind Regards,

So you'll be doing absolutely nothing about it and i just have to accept it now? A totally unusable connection.

From 5pm - 11pm i consistantly get between 20-60% packet loss and pings well over 1000. What sort of level would you class as serious enough to help me?

I'am utterly shocked that you feel that is an acceptable response.
Can you just clarify, for the record that you accept that i have a major problem again but you will be doing nothing to try and resolve it?
