Wireless connection is not even close to 100mb [ Edited ]

I had 100mb broadband installed yesterday, every test I have done on wireless reaches a maximum of of 40mb but when I used a Ethernet cable I got over 100mb all the time even got Upto 130mb at one stage, I am no more than 20ft away from the super hub. Does anyone know why there is such a difference between wired and wireless.

ur lucky i get bad 100meg wired.

wireless depends on all sorts of factors ie wireless band u have in ur device to get better speeds needs to be wireless n at least as b and g ull never see above 50 or 60.

try changing the wireless channel try checking surrounding area of othee networks on same channel.

also position hub away from cordless phones dab radios microwaves etc and metal.

If you're getting 100 meg wired, then the stats aren't going to be a factor with wireless.

The SH is weak on wireless and most people wanting to get close to 100 meg go to modem mode and put their own router on.

There are sepome obvious things you may already have done, like setting the SH to 5GHz wireless mode, which is the only way to get close to 100 meg out of the thing.

There is a Wireless foruum in the community with FAQs and user experiences that will help you.

But Modem Moden and a decent reouter is really your best bet. That said, there is an upcomng firmware release for the SH that is said to improve wirteless performance and you might care to wait for that. It goes on trial shortly.

Thanks both of you for the information, i think i'll wait for the new firmware update and if it doesnt improve much then i'll probably use the modem mode.

no worries but id put the shub in modem mode u will see a huge difference in wifi signal if u have android mobile dload a app i use for free called wifi analyser tells u certain stuff
