100 Meg Croydon area Rollout date!?

[ Edited ]

OK what is going on...

the rollout document said I would get 100mb by june... Now the online says December?!

I am in Kingston (  which is the Croydon area )

My main argument with this is that other people have been on 100mb for a year and paying the same amount as me!?!

If people have been on 100Mbit for a year, before April they would have been paying more than you. The price of the original 100Mbit tier was reduced when the upgrades for XXL 50 started.

Re: 100 Meg Croydon area Rollout date!?

In customer supports' own words, they keep delaying upgrading the Croydon area (at least CR0 6*) because it'll require some work to be done since we're already far beyond the capabilities of our cabs. They need to add more servers, basically.

The customer support guy called the situation a "joke" and their head office was "ashamed" of the service they're provding.

Just saying… It'll probably happen in December, they won't be able to delay it further since it'll be over a year overdue by then. So I guess we'll have to be patient. :smileyhappy:

Re: 100 Meg Croydon area Rollout date!?

Hi prowl

Important information

Dates are based on our current engineering plans and may be subject to change as we develop a more detailed schedule based on your personal requirements. For example, we may need to undertake further upgrades in your area before the speed increase. Some customers may also require an installation visit to ensure they receive the full benefit of the upgrade. Postcode checker is based on existing customer information, new customers may be upgraded later than the dates displayed.

If you are still on a 50mb connection then you are getting the connection tier that you signed up to and are paying for. The 100mb upgrade is a free upgrade and will be deleivered to you when the network is in a position to withstand the upgrade.

With any upgrade of this type, there will be "Winners" - those at the top of the list - and "Losers" - those at the bottom.

If it's any consolation, my upgrade is scheduled for August 2013, so I'll come back to this thread in December and complain about all you Croydon people getting your free upgrade sooner than me.
Kind Regards,

Steve Brett

Re: 100 Meg Croydon area Rollout date!?

Thanks to all for the information.

I am not annoyed about it as such.  Just trying to find out information. And this forum is way better than phoning up.

Now all you need a proper online ticket based faults/complaints system with real escalation option to the people that can actually Solve issues.

......not being funny or anything but Kingston is nowhere near Croydon!!!!

Croydon and Kingston are around 40 mins+ away from each other in totally different boroughs with different councils (Kingston = The Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames and Croydon = London Borough of Croydon)!  You need to check the Kingston area for your speed increase and NOT Croydon's....!!

Re: 100 Meg Croydon area Rollout date!?

Ha! You are right but Virgin's Codes are a bit nuts.. But as Far as aI can tell 03 area on the bill covers Bromley all the way round london to Kingston / Richmond... with epsom / banstead / stutton.

Probably the reason it was taking so long.

I've had a few complete day long outages recently and wonder if that's why the update has moved forwards... when things had failed maybe they took the opportunity to swap out switches etc.  to get the 100mb in place.

Can't say I am looking forward to it given the amount of trouble on here....

That said people do only come on here to moan!  Which is what it's for... You don't see many posts from people saying, "Yup I am happy Perfectly good service"

Well Apart from these 2 days down time - in the space of a week. I've had perfect service for 2 years in this house.

What has got better is the status reports on faults, but could go into more depth - "need to replace swtich" - "Truck diven into green box"  - then you might have a reasonable idea of what needs to be done

Well I hope these upgrades have some sort of positive effect on the overall performance.Because the 100mb in my part of croydon from 3PM-11PM is appalling i have been experiencing 10-30mb at these times. And these times are suppose to be stm hours as well.
