iPad App - it's nearly September!

The powers 'that be' said September.. what do we reckon are the chances to get a VM iPad app in the next few weeks?

Did anyone say which September? :smileywink:

Tangentially, how did the fault-finding go?

Loc: PR4 1, TV: XL+SkyHD, BB: 100Mbps
2x 1TB TiVo: {15.3.1.RC3-VMC-2-C00}
SuperHub: R37 {Modem mode}
I don't work for VM, and I don't plan to!

Re: iPad App - it's nearly September!

Its been put back again! The latest Neil Burkett said to investors about the release was 'in the forth quarter', so October - December.

In the meantime Sky have caught up and have said they will be launching their updated Sky+ app this Summer.

Re: iPad App - it's nearly September!

Those of us who were using the Tivo app seem to have had that ability removed with the latest update.

That's half a step forwards and about 5 back then, given the unofficial app was better than any of the minor features they've added.

Sky show Virgin how its done again, they announced their new app for Summer and it has been released on time today. See its not difficult, you announce a product and deliver it in a timely manner.

Re: iPad App - it's nearly September!

And it can control the Sky+ box. So, on time, works as it should and controls the STB. Now, exactly what are VM going to crow about when they eventually launch theirs? "Oh, look it's RED"?

I still think one of the biggest hold ups is agreement with broadcasters since I reckon the iPad app is linked in some way to box-to-box streaming. And since Sky control almost all the channels we get on VM we have zero chance of being allowed anything of the sort since Sky can advertise it along the lines of "...and EXCLUSIVE to SKY the ability to...blah...blah...blah" :smileysad:

Re: iPad App - it's nearly September!

Don't suppose anyone knows if the Android Tablet app is Q4 as well (or is it some time distant in 2013-14).

I would probably buy an iPad just for the app if it was out but I'd rather not have to.

I guess at this rate it's not an issue, is it.

Re: iPad App - it's nearly September!

I used to use the US app on my iPad but I've been out of the loop for a while and just come back to this forum. Is is it still broken, or has some enterpising soul found a further workaround for Virgin's ridiculous blocking antics.

I had to check the date of your posting, that it was 2012 not 2011 (or April 1) :smileyhappy:
