Only had the TiVo tb box a couple of weeks and in the past two days it slowed down to a practically unbearable speed. I see that others have had similar issues - has a reason and associated fix been found yet?
I can't go on with it at this speed it can't be right!

Hi Batfink,
What's behaving slowly about it? Which box have you had installed?

It's the 1tb TiVo box. Once things are playing then they play fine but hitting the play button on a recording you wait forever for it to actually launch. Browsing in general has also slowed to a unbearable pace.

Out of interest, do you hit the Play button on the remote when you're in the shows list, or do you go in to the sub menu for each programme and then press OK on the Play menu item?
Browsing in what context? Scrolling through a list? Opening the details for a programme? Navigating the menus?

I usually hit the play button but both that and sub menu way result invery slow opening. Screen actually goes black for several seconds before show then finally starts to play. Launching sub menus from groups results in the spinning loading icon for several seconds and just flicking from menu to menu has developed a good few seconds lag. Scrolling through a list I don't believe experiences any speed deficiency but switching to a new list entirely does.
Pant help you can provide would be most appreciated.

How much have you recorded in the past 2 days?

A tiny amount. Handful of very short child's tv episodes ....peppa pig etc. so a neglible amount as far as percentage of the hard drive which in total is only at about thirty percent used

Ah, should have said 'couple of weeks' - misread your original post!
30% of a 1TB box? I'm guessing they're all in HD?
If it's lots of small programmes then I can understand - it's the same principle as viewing a folder in Windows, it doesn't matter how large the files are, if there are loads of them then things slow down.

But slow down to this pace and when launching one file? I can't believe it should be this slow. Some people have said its a heat issue but I take it you think it's just the box not being up to the job?
