TiVo being returned to VM next thursday

Well that didn't last long! Installed Monday morning, decided an hour ago that it's gotta go, and going back to V+.

Not really virgins fault, some of it anyway.. On the v+ I had an rf out feed to a tv in a bedroom upstairs, and that's just not possible with TiVo.

The SD picture is definitely inferior, BBC not available on demand from the epg, and the box is not significantly faster than v+, especially when searching for OD stuff, when it's much slower.

All in, not worth the £150. t

So, getting v+ back, but now read that newer v+ boxes don't have RF out either. Is that correct?

If so, gotta go with sky, I guess.

I don't want 2 boxes, with my recordings split between both of them, and different channels available on each of the 2 tellys in my house.

Anyone have any suggestions to distribute the TiVo to my upstairs TV? Tried a scart modulator and a video sender, neither of which worked very well.

Best to stick with hard wired IMHO so just get this and run a HDMI cable from it to the other TV.

Sorry, what I didn't mention was that neither of the tellys in my house are HD (hangs head in shame). However, therwise, that's a perfect solution.

Gonna have to get into the 21st century sometime soon.

Another option is to take the SCART output into a RF modulator and the use it as before. (see here http://www.maplin.co.uk/programmable-universal-modulator-33050 )

Sadly, I tried one of these yesterday afternoon, but being rather hard of thinking, I found the instructions completely indecipherable, so I returned it for a video sender, which suffered from enormous amounts of electrical interference.

Works really well for me, got TiVo piped around the house and able to control it from all the different rooms using a magic eye.  Have you maybe been a bit hasty in returning it?

If I'm honest it is a case of losing patience.

I have so many legacy cables behind the tv that it was hard to see which was the one that attached to the old V+ box.

Then when I looked at the dip switches, and the total lack of legible instructions I decide I'd immediately had enough.

No idea what switches 7 and 8 should do, and I wasnt able to get any more than a very snowy picture, about 20% quality. This was on channel 21 with all switches up (off?)

If anyone can give me a typical setup for one of these boxes, I'd be keen to have another go, if you think it's worth it?

Never going to be for everyone, i love it, think it is much better than V+ already. Plus you have to remember it's a new technology, have to give it time to evolve and for all the bugs to get ironed out as well as all the features enabled.

I love it as well, still got my V+HD and my VHD box, TIvo is a fantastic addition. HD in every room, I am really pleased with it.

Give me a few mins and I'll tell you what my DIP switches are set to, hate you to send TiVo back before if you don't need to.
