Helpful Answer

TIVO Box

Can anyone tell me how much a TIVO box costs, at the moment I have a V+HD box and get XL it costs me £30.50 a month, I have tried ringing but I cannot understand the language that the man is speaking, also as I have not got a Virgin telephone line it is very expensive, so how much is a Tivo box, how much to install, and how much would the monthly cost be with XL. Thanks so much.

Hi Magz123,

You should be able to explore the pricing options through the shop section of the main VM website. That will give you a more accurate answer than anything else.

Per month, it could be an extra £5 (I'm not sure if there's a charge for the V+HD boxes) for a TiVo box, though any installation and inital box charges will be on top of that.

If you find yourself watching a more and more HD on your current box, I'd suggest looking at the 1TB box to allow you to record it all!

The 1TB TiVo is usually £50, with an installation charge of £50 as well.

If you're still really struggling on the phone, a bit of a cheeky way out, but head through to cancellations and you should get a better response.

Loc: PR4 1, TV: XL+SkyHD, BB: 100Mbps
2x 1TB TiVo: {15.3.1.RC3-VMC-2-C00}
SuperHub: R37 {Modem mode}
I don't work for VM, and I don't plan to!

Re: TIVO Box

Thanks for your reply, I have tried looking at the page for the upgrades but it just tells me that as an existing customer I have to ring them, so its back to square one, hopefully there is another Virgin out there with a bit more information. Thanks again.

Re: TIVO Box

Just pretend you're not an existing customer when the form prompts you :smileywink:
Either that, or try speaking to the cancellations team :smileyhappy:

Re: TIVO Box

In your situation I'd stick with the v+ he TiVo is good but not £5 a month better than the v+

Re: TIVO Box

Thank you so much for your reply being an OAP I do tend to tape a lot and the V+HD box only allows 75 hours recording, so the 250 hours from TIVO would be a godsend, its just the initial lay out to find. Thanks again.

Re: TIVO Box

Please be aware that although the advert says a one off payment I have been stung with a double payment of £45.95 x2 whci was not made clear when I ordered the tivo on the internet. Asapensioner this months bill is now going to cost more than my weekly income and it really is not worth that amount of money. My daughter on the other hand was given hers free with NO installation costs and she live up the road from me. I will be re-thinking my relationship with virgin as soon as I can. Sadly they are becoming money grabbing and sneaky

Re: TIVO Box

Hi swl,

Have you queried this with the cancellations department? Could it be that it's just your 1st month's bill, so everything is doubled up (i.e. you're paying for this month and then a month in advance?)
