New to TiVo - it's ok, but has some major annoyances. On V+, I used to avoid clashes by finding repeats on alternative days for series links.
It would appear this simple task is beyond the "mighty" TiVo... I can either record NEW only (which will ignore the repeat, obviously) or "NEW and RERUNS". I want the repeats only, and on a specific channel and at a set time, not all repeats at any time. V+ could do this perfectly just by making a series link on the right programme. If I try this on TiVo I get every single repeat.
Am I missing something? Thursdays are the busiest days in our recording schedule and clashes are a problem even with 3 tuners (let's not get into the padding problem that makes this worse here), so I try to record a few shows a couple of days later, but I can only do this on TiVo by setting manual recordings! Unimpressive!
Also, how do I tell what shows have been watched in the list of recordings without going into them to read the description? Surely an icon showing the status isn't hard to implement? The V+ "Viewed", "Part Viewed" and "
In "recording hiccups", it is 90% a list of things I didn't want anyway. Surely it should only show things that actually failed? It currently shows the programmes not being recording because my series links are "NEW" only - this list shows all the repeats. How are they hiccups? I makes finding genuine ones impossible.
If it weren't for the extra space I'd be going back to V+. Please get this sorted VM!

Let TiVo worry about the clashes.. just set your programmes to record and TiVo will reschedule if a clash occurs and get the next available episode. just make sure that programmes that don't have repeats are higher up in the priority list so they get recorded and the repeated programmes are rescheduled. ![]()

Hmm, won't it just clip them, not skip them? This is in part related to the padding issue I didn't want to get into as it's in another thread. The clashes I am refering to are 4-5 min overlaps, and so the TiVo isn't not recording, it's just clipping the lower priority programme.
Are you saying it will record repeats of programmes that clash despite the "NEW only" option being set? That could be quite useful in some cases, thank you.

Yes, even with the NEW only flag, they will record the next showing as TiVo recognises the clash.

Aha, thank you, that helps a little. I take it I need to alter the clipping setting? I think I saw the option to "not record" rather than "clip", I'll take a look later.
