I hope so.Looks promising though, Virgin can see that the future is in Streaming so why not enhance it and make some money from the above companies.

This is where Virgins Tivo box can Knock Sky for six,due to the permanent connectivity of the Tivo Box. Virgin could end up having more content than Sky in the future. Exiting times ahead.???????

I hope so :smileyhappy:

Are NetFlix and LoveFilm open to Virgin TiVo? That's the real question here and as far as Virgin TiVo is concerned, neither NetFlix or LoveFilm have said squat so far.

Obviously neither will at the moment as both Companies tend to make join announcements when it is available with the company supplying there Apps. Neither will make future announcements while in negotiations.

Saying that I am with NetFlix and rang up customer services and they confirmed to me they are in talks with Virgin but would not give me a launch date.

At a guess I'd say October, or may be December. Call me cynical if you want although I never said what year. :-) Joking aside, VOD and streaming films is a massive strain on any network, if VM get it right and I hope they do. I would be a happy chap. A new Netflix user.

I feel it will allow Virgin to show content that is not supplied and governed by Sky. Sky have too much of a strangle hold of the content it supplies to Virgin. With compression technology improving all the time streaming HD content should be less of a strain on the service as time goes by. So far this year we have NetFlix,LoveFilm and to come after April Sky and Blockbuster streaming movie content. Give it another couple of years there will be more big players on the market.

Sky is already having it's dominance over movie content being taken away from them by NetFlix. So far Netflix have outbid Sky with three major film companies for first showing of films from 2013. Lovefilm are also out bidding Sky for first showing of movie titles. So I can see why Virgin are interested in tying up with these companies to supply there content. Could be a big financial coup for Virgin and if Sky lose a lot of film content it will mean them having to charge Virgin less to provide it.

Re: NetFlix and LoveFilm Apps to be on Tivo Boxes

Any deal VM has ever done by with Sky is always trumpeted from the hill tops until till Sky do a work round. Sky Atlantic any one? F1 channel? I'm hoping VM do get video on demand first view rights via Netflix etc I'd put money on some sort of come back from Sky. As a service Sky is doomed in the long term. It's a fixed stream signal via a dish, decoded via a STB. VM and the TiVo is a truly on demand service. Now once BT get some investment back from its fibre offering I'm sure VM and BT will be forced to unbundle the fibre lines and just become content providers. TheN Sky can enter the realm truly on demand content provider. I'd say 5-6 years.

SkyHD boxes will have access to Anytime+ (their own OD service) via any ISP from next week.
