Audio lost when shifting forward/rewinding

There have been a couple of other posts about this, but they're quite old and there was never a decent answer, so I'll ask again...

I've had my TiVo over a year now and apart from one thing, it's perfect. That one really niggling thing though is that we occasionally lose audio.

Specifically, when seeking forward or back through a recording if we hit the "jump" button several times (or sometimes just doing fast forward three times to the highest speed) then all audio (program and TiVo effects) disappears. If we turn up the amp (a Denon AVR1910) to full volume the sound is actually still there, but dramatically lower in volume than it should be.

No amount of waiting, changing channels or other fiddles with the TiVo make it come back to a normal level. To get audio back we either have to turn the TiVo into standby and start again, change input selection on the amp or simply hit the same input selector on the amp to get it to resync.

This happens using either HDMI or Optical out. It's really quite frustrating, especially as we've now tried two different optical cables and three HDMI. The only common bits are the amp and the TiVo. Other digital audio sources work perfectly with the same amp.

Aside from the half dozen or so "me too" folks in the other threads on this, does anyone have a suggestion as to what's happening and how to make it stop?

Please use plain text.
