When did it start to be able to do this?
This was something many people missed when moving from a Sky+ / Sky+HD box.

It only works if the tuner was on that channel before you started watching though, it can't buffer every channel in the list. That includes when the box is 'off' (during which time it's still buffering anyway)

If you hit the info button and then goto the last page it will tell you what the other 2 tuners are tuned into and it also buffers then in standby as I found out when I was too late to watch a epp of family guy and found the tuner had it's 1 hour buffer and I was able to rewind the tivo to the start.
What would I do without TiVo.

and, with judicious use of tuner toggling you can keep up with 2 relatively slow moving sports at the same time.
womans weight lifting and archery being two current examples of these.
