Re: What Games Are You Playing?

I keep hearing good things about the telltale story-games though I have yet to actually play any of them. I'm a huge fan of both Borderlands and GoT though I've kind of given up on Walking Dead as of late. Any recommendations of where to start with these games?

As to what I'm currently playing, recently had to replace my laptop so I've redownloaded a lot of games I got on Gog.com and Steam. Decided I'm actually going to finish Neverwinter Nights 2 once and for all! Wish me luck Smiley Happy

Re: What Games Are You Playing?

Haha it took me long enough deciding on race and class! I don't know if you can tell by my profile pic but I'm clearly a Tank player Smiley Tongue Went with bog standard Human Fighter and have started working towards Blackguard.

Just thought I'd also mention that I'm a massive fan of the Fallout Series and just pre ordered the pip boy edition of Fallout 4 Smiley Very Happy

@John_G

I'm not sure about Fallout anymore. I have Fallout 1,2,3 and New Vegas. I like Fallout 3 the best and Fallout New Vegas the least. There's not too much plot variation between the games sadly. What annoyed me about Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas was not so much the game play - which is fun mostly. It was the actual editor that came with the games (GECK) - named after the ingame item that makes places livable.

For example, if you had a Realtek onboard sound card and no mic plugged in - it would crash on trying to edit the dialogues - but it wouldn't crash like that for any other sound card. Map editing was even more of a pain. You could put together a map, it would look perfect in the editor - but parts of it would not show when you played the map in the game (just infinite blue space.) Making the pathing wasn't too fun either - you have to be careful about how you do it regards to the vault doors. What's worse about the editor is - I couldn't even get it to load on Win 8 systems. But it workes on Win 7 systems.

Yes I made some mods for Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas - namely "restored" vaults - which replaced the old rusted destroyed vaults with brand new looking versions (I had them on the fallout portion of the Nexus website before I asked for my account to be deleted there.) Some of them were harder to make than others, I.E. vault 87. I almost gave up on modding it completely.

Re: What Games Are You Playing?

Fallout 4 will have a totally new engine, so lets hope those crashes are gone in November, well except for the usual few after release.

As for TWD, the next story will be about Michone but a short story showing how she became who she is well known for. Then TWD 3 is out the following year.

Clem will be the main protagonist again, Alvin Jr is hard to predict.... we still haven't found out about Christa and her kid, she obviously lost it at one point, but we never did find out if she survived the attack or not early in Episode 1 season 2.

Kenny if he survived will no doubt be there, but I killed him by mistake.... Smiley Sad

GoT's game is good so far, plenty of OMFGs in it, and the voice acting is done by the actual actors for the more common characters.

Borderlands one I haven't played yet.

Re: What Games Are You Playing?

Shelke I'd love to try out some of your mods but I imagine the Bethesda fallouts would be a nightmare for pathing! I have the latest fallouts on 360 though and I'm not sure my current laptop would handle that level of gaming Smiley Sad New Vegas was pretty buggy throughout and for me seemed a bit too populated for a Fallout game. My latest playthrough of that I was taking down supermutants and deathclaws with ease and then went to the Sierra Madre DLC. Loved the concept but it was such a creepy grind to get through.

Those I can share. A couple of them have multiple quests and stories added to them. I even added a protection mechanism to the quest NPC in one of them. If you harm the NPC in any way, it tells you off and instant kills you with an electric explosion Cat LOL One has a self destruct feature added (vault 87), another has multiple alternate dimensions with crazy monsters+setup. All of them (except vault 108) has added interior for living etc (player home functionality.)

The pathing is and was a tedious nightmare. Placing lots of red dot things and connecting them up. Which looks like an endless amount of transparent red connected triangles.  Sure you could get lazy and make big triangles - but if you wanted realistic pathing for NPCs (so they don't run through objects etc or bug out) - you had to make countless tiny ones. And for a single cave stretch - it took a while. Now factor in doors, steps, vault gears, etc. And sometimes the editor would crash on computing/compiling the pathing.

+Add: Ever wonder why in some default maps why NPCs don't follow you or run into ceilings/walls etc? That's down to bad/lazy pathing by the developer.

Deathclaws are easy to kill yes, just strafe to the side when it charges, rinse, repeat Cat Tongue

Fallout:NV just didn't feel very "Fallout" to me and yes it was bug ridden. I forget what the Sierra Madre DLC added, as it has been a long time since I played it.

+Add: I got a new desktop computer several months ago. It has an I7 4790 CPU, 8GB RAM, multiple Sata III hard drives. USB 3.1 support and support for PCI-E 3.0, Sata 3.0 and PCI-E SSDs (NvME) etc (ASUS mother board.) Silly thing is, I put the old graphic card from my previous computer into this new one. An old ATI 6850 PCI-E 2.0 graphics card - lol. I won't be upgrading graphic card wise until there are ones out there that are HDMI 2 cable complaint (ultra HD compatible) and aren't TOO expensive

Re: What Games Are You Playing?

Ah Sierra Madre was a nightmare, it turned it into almost a survival horror game. You effectively get kidnapped and dumped in this nightmarish casino town and all your gear has been taken from you and you're left with scrounging for knives, spears and a pistol to take down these irritatingly tough enemies who will revive if you don't critical kill them or finish them off! Nightmare! The story and history was brilliantly fleshed out and fascinating to read up on so well worth getting despite the hard slog. The other DLCs were fantastic too, I loved the sci-fi one which had most of the cast of Venture Brothers as voice actors Smiley Happy And the Divide gave a great backstory to your character too which I can't talk about without spoiling it Smiley Happy

You can really see a lot of Van Buren (the abandoned Black Isle Fallout 3) come into New Vegas with the amount of back story they've put into the game.
