External IP address

It seems from my external IP address that I am located in Wigan, but I am actually in a South West London area normally served from Croydon. Speedtest shows a fairly slow connection this evening.

Can anyone shed light on this mystery?

Re: External IP address

locations services used to locate ip addresses are often wrong. as a ip has no location they use a database to try and locate where it is used it will have no impact on your connection

Re: External IP address

Noted, thanks. Only a recent change though, and it did affect some purchases from Itunes.

Re: External IP address

IP addresses can and do get swapped around once in a blue moon.  I'm in Stockport, but got an IP that put me in Great Yarmouth.
