White Mute Icon

Hi everyone, my TV screen is constantly showing symbol which looks like the mute icon, but its completely white with a red cross on it.   The actual mute button doesn't seem to work at all on the remote control.  Is that what it's telling me?  Any ideas.   I've tried calling Virgin but after 50 minutes gave up!

Hi lemmo , i`m also having this problem too , not sure what the cause of it is although i`ve found it can be gotten rid of by pressing the "HOME" button on the Virgin remote and then the "TV "button also on the Virgin remote .

This seems to work for me at least , hope it does for you too .... a possible cause could be the interactive stuff because it only seems to happen after i`ve accessed interactive or on demand content and it`s only started since the Olympic coverage started .

I am in St Albans, Herts.

I am getting the same problem, noticed it since Fri 27/7

I normally put my Samsung V+ on Standby overnight and when i turn it on in the morning i get the same problem. The Mute symbol appears

A re-boot does fix it and the mute icon does not appear but when i put my V+ in standby overnight and switch on the next morning the mute icon is back

When i press home ant then TV the mute icon goes

No problem clemmo, i`m glad it worked for you too , i know it`s only a minor niggle but it was annoying the heck out of me all the same.

I`d like to know what is causing the problem though, perhaps someone from Virgin might have the answer ?

A google search seems to think it is a low battery warning for remote. Might that be the case? I've not managed to try out this solution yet.

To get rid of it I pause live tv then unpause and stop to come out of delay tv. That gets rid of it.
