Re: V+HD will be removed from sale completely at the end of March.

Again this goes to show what I have been saying all along with VM "no consistancy".

I have tried a couple of times and got no-where with free installation for a Tivo, always been hit with the £49.95 installation fee, which applies to 500gb Tivo and I have been with them in one name or another for 15 years.

Then you see countless people coming on saying the didn't pay any installation fee or the got this deal or that deal. I sometimes wonder if they did or do they just like to come onto forums and do it to wind people up.

I doubt that any 2 customers of VM are paying the exact same for the same services.

You only seem to get any good deals or free installation if you are either a new customer or are willing to go to retentions with a begging bowl.

If it wasn't for the broadband I would have been off long ago.......

As it is I am happy with my V+ although I would like a Tivo but I am certainly not paying for an installation when others get it for nothing and a monthly fee of a fiver.........

It also seems that looking on here the engineers just connect them and leave saying it will boot up in a couple of hours so I don't see why it can't just be a self install the same as V+ or modem.

i dont come on here to wind people up i come on here to offer tech support and put accross my opinions and also experiance! not to wind anyone up

and  no 2 customers on vm are paying the exact unless signed up for the same service just like you said

and i never go to the retentions team with a begging bowl when i missed the dd by mistake i go to them to setup the dd and they offer stuff to me im not going to say no to a deal now cummon i wouldnt be human and im sure that if they offered you a deal you wouldnt say no would you?

Thanks

I'll admit I paid £49.95 for the install of my 2nd box (a 500GB). I am aware that some people got the fee waived and I'll agree there seems to be quite a bit of inconsistency with pricing (not sure if this is down to my misunderstanding or forum posters misunderstanding)

However the way I look at it is there is always going to be someone on a better deal than me for just about everything. In a lot of purchases I'll try and get a good deal and most cases get something. What it usually boils down to is I look at what I'm getting look at what price is being offered and decide if I'm happy with it (not whether it is the lowest price, biggerst discount etc). If I am happy I part with my cash.

With the TiVo install I was happy to pay it as I was already getting my 2nd box fee waived and by ordering when i did I was avoiding the £3 per box nonsense. Yeah someone will be getting all this AND not pay the install fee but for me I felt I was getting a good deal and I'm not really got the time to a)worry about what other people are getting b)sitting on the phone trying to get a free install.

Call me a mug but I still think I am on a good deal, not as good as some, but I can't be looking over the garden dence my entire life.

Besides nobody in the UK got as good a deal on their new car as I did a few years back so that makes up for any better VM deals anyone is getting ;-)

3 years old and I could still sell for a profit as the depreciation has not yet caught up with the discount I recieved when I bought the car. Pays to buy right when the car insudtry was desperate to get any sale on their books and new reg plates were coming out :-)

Re: V+HD will be removed from sale completely at the end of March.

Hi swt4ajp,

slightly of topic, but say my V+ box packed up, would I have to pay to have Tivo as a replacement, or, as the V+ boxes would no longer be on sale, would there be enough reserve old stock to just replace the faulty box with another V+ box.

Which will happen as it's likely any faulty boxes replaced and returned back into Virgin Media won't then be fixed - naturally running down the available stock

so yes practically exhasting the remaining stock until none left
