Searching for a remote code; Item 4 does not state what you can do when [GREEN] does not turn TV back on, making continuing the search impossible.

Have you tried the codes instead of the search?

My TV (SHARP) has 12 numeric codes listed, 8 of them do nothing, the remaining 4 will permit channel change and volume only, but NOT permit any on/off toggle.
By attempting the 'Search' function and 80 or so 'Up Channel' I manage to get the remote to turn the TV off, but as it is the [GREEN] that confirms the storage of the relevant code, there is no way to tell the peanut you have arrived at a suitable code.
So, you cannot either accept or continue the search, all you can do it restart the search from the beginning, with the same code beforming the switch off, and no ability to store or continue searching.
All I can do is select the use of Channel/Volume functions and forego On/Off, which is a pain, as the peanut has already demonstrated that it DOES have the on/off function within its codes to control my Sharp LCD.

Hi Buzby,
To store the information in the remote once it has searched for the code it is not the green flash that confirms the code this is to let you know that it has located a code. To confirm this code it is pressing and holding the OK key for around 5 seconds. If this doesn't work the on off then you would need to start the search again and go passed the one you have tried to the next code.
EG: remote responds after 5 channel plus key presses then you would need to move on to the 6 to see if this operates that function.
Thanks
Cheryl

Sorry Cheryl, you misunderstand.
The [GREEN] that I refer to (in SQUARE brackets) refers not to the LED but the button you are required to press in order to store the command and turn the TV back on to confirm the correct code is entered. This is quite clearly stated in the instructioins for 'searching' and confirming a code where the supplied numeric codes do not work.
As your advice contradicts the information supplied, perhaps you could investigate further and advise?
It is NOT possible to pass the first code, as the TV is now off (and needs to be turned on to confirm or to see the display).

Hi Buzby,
I have just spoken to a colleague regarding this who also has the same problem as yourself and there doesnt, at the minute appear to be a work around.
I will pass this information over to the engineers and ask them to investigate and we will update you accordingly with any information they are able to provide.
Many thanks for your patience,
Emma

Can I customise the remote to enable "reminders" to be set?
on 20-02-2011 18:20
Hi A2d,
there is no 'reminder' feature available on the Tivo service.
If you select to record a programme it will ask you at the start of that programme (if you are currently viewing another channel) do you wish to view it.
Thanks,
Emma
