TV anywhere on laptop (windows 10)

Hi

Ever since I upgraded to windows 10 I've only been able to receive audio on tv anywhere.

I've downloaded internet explorer 11 and firefox none of which work any better.

I've also downloaded Silverlight and confirmed that flash is working correctly.

Nobody else seems to know what to do to resolve this issue.

Any help would be appreciated

Re: TV anywhere on laptop (windows 10)

Hi marklove,

Thanks for your post and apologies that you are having an issue using TV Anywhere via Windows 10.

Currently we're not able to support Windows 10 so we can only run through some basic diagnostics.

Silverlight won't matter in this circumstance as TV Anywhere only uses Flash. As that is up to date, we wouldn't need to look at this either.

As far as i'm aware, using Firefox with Windows 10 should work but you may need to re register your device.

Go to anywhere.virginmedia.com > My Profile > Device Settings
Delete your device and then clear your history, including cache and cookies.

Close your browser so we can start from scratch Smiley Happy

Load up Firefox, go to anywhere.virginmedia.co.uk > On Now > Channel 4
Select Watch Now and you'll be prompted with a Register your device error message. Follow the prompts here to register the device via Firefox.

Does this make any difference?

Let me know.

Thanks,

Re: TV anywhere on laptop (windows 10)

Hi Kath
It didn't make any difference I'm afraid.
I'd already tried most of that anyway.
I guess I'm just going to have to wait on the technical team making the changes to allow windows 10 to work with it.
I'd hope this might be a bit of a priority seeing as most of the windows using population will soon be on windows 10 given that Microsoft are go upgrading everyone for free.
I don't suppose you havery any timescales do you?
Thasks for trying to help anyway Kath

Kind Regards

Mark

Re: TV anywhere on laptop (windows 10)

Hi Mark,

Thanks for coming back to me on this Smiley Happy

I'm sorry my tips didn't help and you are still in the same position.

It's not that Windows 10 doesn't work with TV Anywhere. We expect it to, it's just not fully supported by us so we only have limited support.

I really can't see why the sound would play and the video wouldn't.

If you go into Control Panel >  Device Manager are there any lines with a small yellow triangle?

If so, then you'll need to correct these, possibly by updating the relevant driver.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,
