TV Anywhere thinks PC is Android...sometimes

Every now and then my Windows computer gives the error "This service is not designed to be used on Android" when opening Sky Sports News in TV Anywhere, it usually rectifies overnight but not by restarting the PC.  Other channels seem ok, BT Sport for example is fine.

Yes, it thinks me using TVA in IE11 is an iPhone sometimes too.

If that's your only issue with TV Anywhere, then I'd say you're very lucky!

Not nicknamed 'TV nowhere' for a reason

doesn't work more than it does

doesn't work on more platforms than it does

unsupported more than supported!!

Re: TV Anywhere thinks PC is Android...sometimes

Hi pujro,

Thanks for your post and apologies for the delay in replying. I've been off over the Christmas and New Years period but am back now and here to help where I can.

I'm sorry to hear that TV Anywhere is having detecting your PC's identity. Are you using a laptop or is it a tablet that can convert to a laptop?

Either way it shouldn't pick up something to do with Android.

What browser are you using?

Try deleting the cache, cookies and history and trying to view Sky News again.

Let me know what happens.

Thanks,

Re: TV Anywhere thinks PC is Android...sometimes

Hi Kath,

It's a desktop pc and only does it now and then, always evenings. Different browsers or clearing cache/cookies makes no difference. It's Sky Sports News by the way.

Hasn't done it for a few days, so let's see how  it goes.

Hi pujro,

As it hasn't happened for a while this seems like a good sign.

My fingers are crossed it won't confuse the 2 again.

Let us know if you do have any further issues though.

Thanks,

Re: TV Anywhere thinks PC is Android...sometimes

Hi pujro and Crockret,

Thank you for getting back to us. I'm sorry that this issue with TV Anywhere incorrectly detecting your desktop PC as an Android device is still going on. Apologies for the delay in responding back to you.

I'd like to raise this issue to our technicians, but will need to take further information from you. I'll send both of you a private message for those details.

 Regards,

Terri

Hi Crockret,

Thanks for your response. I understand that this is not the only problem our customers are experiencing with the TV Anywhere service and this is not the only issue that I have chosen to focus on.

The issues you noted in your post regarding capacity problems have already been raised and escalated to the TV Anywhere techs who are still working on this.

As there is no ticket raised on this specific issue--where the app incorrectly identifies your computer as an Android device--this needs to be raised so that we can work on fixing this problem, as well as the others.

I have tried to replicate this fault with our equipment in the office and also on my home equipment and it isn't happening, so in order to provide details of the fault, I have to ask for the particulars from our customers experiencing the problem.

It is certainly your prerogative to refuse to provide us with the information needed to raise this issue, but we ask for this information from our customers so that we can identify why this issue is happening and any information provided helps our techs to determine a resolution.

Kind regards,

Terri
