TV Anywhere app Kindle issues

Hi

I have the TV Anywhere app on my I-phone and it works superbly, rarely crashes and is fine to use.

I also have the app on my Kindle Fire and it works terribly on this.

I mainly use it to watch BT sports channels, Eurosport and occasionally ITV4.

On the BT sports channels it brings up a message "problem streaming this channel" in a box that you only can remove once you go back to main menu. This usually happens within about 5-10 minutes of starting to watch it. On Eurosport & ITV4 it is not as bad but still happens roughly every 30-45 minutes.

I've mentioned this on twitter to the support team and get the standard responses about any problems in my area (there aren't). Have you completely closed the app and restarted (yes many times). Have you uninstalled and reinstalled the app (Yes and this doesn't fix it).

From what my friends tell me about Sky Go this app appears a lot better.

Are there plans to put an update to fix this on Kindle / Android devices as I feel a bit cheated with the app as it is currently.

Apologies if this has been raised before.

Re: TV Anywhere app Kindle issues

Hi silveryfox,

Thanks for your post and apologies to hear about the issues you are currently having when trying to use the TV Anywhere app via your Kindle.

I have noticed a few other users having this issue and I have raised this up to the project team. There isn't a fix for this as it stands but once one does go live, I shall let you know.

In the meantime, make sure your app is up to date Smiley Happy

Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Thanks,

Re: TV Anywhere app Kindle issues

Thanks for the reply.

I do keep the app up to date.

As an example I had hardly any problems last night watching the football on BT sport through the app

However, tonight it has worked sporadically with various random error messages

I feel this is likely to be due the fact an English team is playing tonight (and not last night) so more people likely to be using the app which seems to affect its stability.

Just my personal opinion anyway.

Hope a fix is on the way soon.

Re: TV Anywhere app Kindle issues

Hi alcoflyer,

Thanks for your post and welcome to the forums. It's great having you on board with us in the Community.

I'm really sorry to hear your Kindle is no longer working with TV Anywhere since updating the app.

We are no longer supporting the below Kindle Fire devices. This is because they don’t have enough processing power to run the new version of the app.

- Kindle Fire (2012) 2nd gen model # KFOT

- Kindle Fire HD 7” (2012) model # KFJA (WAN) + KFJWI (WiFi)

- Kindle Fire (2012) HD 8.9” model # KFAPWA (WAN) KFAPWI (Wi-Fi)

In order for TV Anywhere to work you need to have a minimum of Android 4.1 OS and these models are on Android 4.0.3.

Apologies for any inconvenience.

Thanks,

Re: TV Anywhere app Kindle issues

I saw the comment re older Kindles.

Mine is a 5th generation and the app no longer works since last update in January.

The old app worked perfectly. Why keep changing things if their not broken.

Come on Virgin if you change things get it right and give us Kindle users our app back.
