Re: My tablet is registered but it will not accept my phone why

Hi Derek,

Thanks for coming back to me on this.

OK, now we've established this is to do with the TV Anywhere app this will help us go down the right diagnostic flow.

The great news is that your device is fully supported for use with TV Anywhere.

We're going to go right back to the start with this.

Log onto anywhere.virginmedia.com > My Profile > Device Settings

Once here, delete the Samsung S5 from your registered devices.

Delete the app from your phone too and then turn the device off and back on.

Download the app from the Playstore and log in using your primary sign in details. Attempt to stream and follow the registration prompts.

Does this allow the device to be registered?

Let me know.

Thanks,

Re: My tablet is registered but it will not accept my phone why

Hi Derek,

Do either of the text boxes (where you type your username and password) change to a red outline when the Sign In button goes red? You should also get a little error message balloon above the username/password fields indicating where the possible problem might be? Check that there isn't a rogue space in your username after any full stops in the email address (some phones automatically add them).

Works for VM. Posts are my own opinion.

Re: My tablet is registered but it will not accept my phone why

Hi coachdriverman

Welcome back to the community

Sorry to hear that your phone is unable to register.

If you log into your account, on the right under My Profile, you will see Device Settings and Sky Movies & Sky Sports. Under Device Settings it will show you the devices registered to use TV Anywhere. Sky Moves & Sky Sports are for devices to use Sky apps. I can see one device has been registered for each of these but they are different devices. Depending on which app you would like to use with the phone check on these settings to see if the registration has gone through first.

If you want to use the phone for TV Anywhere then you can register under Device Settings. If you want to use a Sky app, then download either Sky Movies or Sky Sports on the phone, pick a channel and start to stream. This will hopefully prompt you to register the phone.

Try this and let me know how you get on

Sam

Re: My tablet is registered but it will not accept my phone why

Hi Samantha

Thanks for the info.

I have managed to "register" my phone but it still will not stream a program just refers back to the registration page.

Any thoughts please.  In words of few syllables exactly how should I register a device, via my PC or the device itself?

Help please.

Derek

Re: My tablet is registered but it will not accept my phone why

Hi Derek,

Thanks for coming back to us on this.

The only place you can register a device is via the device itself.

On TV Anywhere, it will ask you to register the device when you try to stream. Follow the prompts on screen and this will then allow you to stream.

On the Sky Apps, streaming a channel will automatically register the device.

So we can get a grip on the situation, what app are you trying to use?

What channel are you trying to stream?

What is the make and model of your tablet?

Let me know.

Thanks,

Re: My tablet is registered but it will not accept my phone why

Hi Kath

I had to wait until now before I could try again.

I'm using the TV Anywhere app and trying to get to Ch4 (but same result with others).

I have Samsung S5 (sm-g900f) running android v5.0.

I try to access a channel, then ask where to watch, I select watch on phone ( so it is recognising that I'm using a phone), then it kicks me to the registration page but when I press "register" the box shows a brighter red then nothing.

What am I doing wrong?

help please

Derek

Re: My tablet is registered but it will not accept my phone why

Thanks for the info, it worked perfectly.

Next problem, I then wanted to view a Sky sports program and tried to log on via the Virgin button but it just hangs.

Tried deleting Sky Go, rebooting, reinstalling but still got the same problem.  Can you help with this one please.

Regards

Re: My tablet is registered but it will not accept my phone why

Hi coachdriverman

Thanks for getting back in touch.

I'm glad that your Samsung S5 is now working through TV Anywhere.

In regards to Sky Sports have you downloaded Sky Go or Sky Sports for Android. Sky Go is Sky's own app and you need to have Sky services to use.

Sky Sports for Android is what Virgin Media customer's use to watch our Sky Sports packages through the app. I have a Samsung S5, I downloaded the Sky Sports for Android app, I clicked on Sign In, clicked the Virgin Media logo, put in my credentials and it worked fine.

If you can check what app you have then let me know.

Speak soon

Sam

Re: My tablet is registered but it will not accept my phone why

Hi Sam

I have both of the Sky apps.

When I try to sign into Sky via the Virgin logon I can enter my user name (email address) and password the when I press the sign in button it just goes from bright red to pink.  Nothing else happens.

I have successfully put this on my tablet with no problems.

Any thoughts please?

Derek
