I don't have the same problem as la7, if works for me most of the time and has worked plenty of times since I made the original post. Howver I did just try it on my phone and got "We're currently experiencing high levels of demand and are having difficulty connecting to your TiVo service. Please try again in a few minutes." At 0812AM! I normally expect to see that message in the evenings. I don't generally try the app at this time of days so I can't say how unusual that is.
ETA: It worked fine at 0814, I regard cases like this where the second attempt works as almost a non-issue.
